Tired bochurim working hard and participating in the color war activities;) until the wee hours of the morning. |
Immediately after the video we were sent to the dining room to be divided into teams by our dear judge shalom hakoihen koihen tzedek katz. (personally I think he just did it for the t shirt). After that our rosh yeshiva eli chaikin announced our three team names (for hiskashrus war) and explained to us the toichen behind them. chayolim bonim and talmidim (in no specific order).
Next up was our judge mendel treitel (stress on the reish) who announced the generals and captains, its not like I really wanted the job but come on... they got awesome t shirts!_and thus ended all hopes of rest for the next 35 hours. The camp descended into a frenzy as everybody rushed to "team time" to be allocated (thats like given out) jobs by their captains and general. Some of the more musically talented got songwriter and the drama queens became script producers for the grand play, I would love to share all the jobs with you but the list is quite extensive (big).
After a short while of preparing, all teams presented themselves in zal for a short humourous skit presided over by the judges. And that was the conclusion of the first night of color war... for most of us. A lucky few people got to stay up till the wee hours of the morning (very late) working on song drafts, play lines, and many other important matters.
Thursday morning started off with a powerful vekking by our מפקדים (Captains), insuring that no bochur was late to seder chassidus. We then had an hour of perfectly normal (sure...) seder, and then went right back to plays, songs, pics, and cooking etc...It was a pretty busy day filled with running around, fetching supplies, and looking for 2 by 4's (do they even exist in Israel), and b'chlal getting ready for the play.
The first thing on the agenda was the humorous comedy skits (boy were they funny), the entire room was pashut filled with laughter. After the skits we had some more time to prepare for the play while our photography and culinary representatives respectively showed off their artistic talents. While I didn't spend too much time by either of them, I must say that they all did fantastic jobs.
Here comes the plays. Each team had an oppurtunity to produce a play best representing their unique theme. They were all pretty creative and thought out (not to mention the mandatory dose of violence), definitely a good source of chassidishe toichendik entertainment (almost like a real video L'Havdil). We took a dinner break for some corn shnitzel and pasta (9 days what can you do?), after which we set up the dinng room for my favorite part: Team songs and grammen.
The team songs were great and jam-packed with toichen and other chassidishe inyonim, you really see how musically talented (or not) your chaveirim are when you do color war, our song pashut rocked the house.
Boy did we get the judges good by the grammen, they needed a legit real fire extinguisher after we finished with them (no stone was left unturned). Once we finished singing and grammening it was time for the grand farby to announce the winners and farbreng about each team's toichen. Of course they had yet to decide the winner, but it was a nice farbrengen all the same.
All in all I have to say that this year's Color War (sorry Eli Chaikin, Hiskashrus War) was truly the best one that I have ever experienced. Maybe its because we broke it out, maybe its because we were the generals and the captains, but whatever the case it was a lot of fun. Have a good shabbos.
